Biography

Wendy Panagopoulos recently graduated with a Master of Education degree with a focus on curriculum in the health sciences. She has been working as a Nurse Educator at the Rankin School of Nursing since 2005. In her Nurse Educator role she works with students in the clinical setting mostly in the area of Mental Health and Addiction. She has also worked with students in first year clinical, coordinated the Cooperative Learning Experience Program, taught Communication Labs, as well as a course in Community Health Nursing in the Distance Nursing program. She is certified as a nonviolent crisis intervention trainer and delivers this program to nursing students. As a Positive Space Program trainer, Wendy has also been instrumental in delivering Positive Space training to approximately 200 nursing students over the last six years. She has worked with the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) in the creation of the Entry to Practice Mental Health and Addiction Competencies document and with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario in the creation of the (RNAO) Nurse Educator Mental Health and Addiction Resource. She brings a social justice and community development approach to her work with students through her lived experience of working with vulnerable populations over many years.
