Antoinette Karuna
Antoinette Karuna is a visual artist residing in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Her art practice critically engages with issues of mixed-race identity, immigration, grief, and the South Asian diaspora and its colonial histories. Karuna's work has been shown nationally and internationally, including at the Toronto Intl Film Festival, Bucheon Intl Fantastic Film Festival, and the Khyber Centre for the Arts. Her projects have received funding from Arts Nova Scotia, the Canada Council for the Arts, and SSHRC, among others.
Karuna holds a BA in Communication Studies from Concordia University, Montreal, and an MFA in Visual Arts from Memorial University of Newfoundland. In July 2026, she will begin doctoral studies in the PhD in Educational Studies program at StFX conducting research in the field of critical mixed race studies.
