From 2001–23, an outlier appeared on the Canadian post-secondary scene. Quest was a private university, located north of Vancouver on Howe Sound. Operating largely outside of the provincial post-secondary system, it offered an innovative curriculum while resting on an opaque financial base that ultimately doomed the venture. Quest offers a fascinating glimpse into the challenges of institutional experiment as well as the stabilizing underpinnings of the Canadian post-secondary norm.
Dr. Peter Clancy is a Mulroney Institute Distinguished Fellow and Senior Research Professor in Political Science at StFX.
All are welcome.
